Periodically at Hope in Health, we share one of our client’s experiences of our therapies and products. Today we’re sharing Jill’s story – a beautiful soul who first visited us two years ago.
Jill says: “I met Philly in 2016 – my daughter-in-law introduced us. I’d been diagnosed with breast cancer that year, and had gone through a lumpectomy and radiotherapy. I also suffer from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and so I really did feel very weak.
My daughter-in-law had heard that Philly had opened Hope in Health and that the clinic had a Salt Therapy cave. She persuaded me to go along for a visit and so I did, not really knowing what to expect. I think I was one of her first clients – perhaps even the first client in there!
It was so peaceful inside, with relaxing music playing in the background. Philly was so warm and welcoming, we chatted for ages and I felt very comfortable. I also left the clinic with a month’s supply of Frankincense Tonic Water and some instructions on how to use it.
A week or so after I’d started drinking the tonic water regularly I began a Pulmonary Rehab course: 8 weeks of physical exercise and advice on managing a chronic lung condition. I’d attended one before and hadn’t seen much change in my COPD so, to be perfectly honest, I wasn’t expecting much.
When I began the course, I still felt very poorly. The cancer treatment had taken it out of me and I was barely able to walk across the room. My first goal was to be able to walk for 5 minutes on the treadmill. At the time, it felt like an impossible task.
But despite the challenge, things were different this time – inside me, that is. I was determined to make progress. Salt Therapy had made my breathing easier and helped me to relax, while I found drinking the tonic water gave me a sense of wellbeing. It’s hard to explain, but I experienced a real boost in my physical energy.
Things gradually improved – ten minutes on the treadmill, then fifteen. At the end of the course I was invited to join the gym to continue the progress I’d made. Suddenly I was able to pace for 45 minutes on the treadmill. Two weeks ago, I went on the rowing machine for the first time. I still can’t believe it!
Since I started the course, I’ve lost 19kgs and my BMI is almost down to the ‘normal weight’ category. My eating habits have changed and I’m far more mobile than I was. I’ve seen a huge difference in my COPD – I feel so much better. In fact, I feel like a different woman.
